Cinema Pedrada, a transatlantic production company, amplifies Afro-Portuguese, Cape Verdean, and Afro-diasporic stories. Their website, pedrada.pt, reflects their bold identity through a brutalist design, built using Figma and Framer.

Objective

The website aimed to embody Cinema Pedrada’s bold, barrier-breaking identity, showcasing their portfolio and mission to disrupt the cinematic landscape with a brutalist aesthetic featuring bold typography and raw layouts.

Design Process

The design, created in Figma, integrated the brand’s “stone” metaphor, with the “PEDRADA” logo’s shattered effect inspiring a brutalist aesthetic. Key elements included ultra-bold typography, a high-contrast palette of blacks, whites, and muted grays, and asymmetric layouts. Figma’s prototyping ensured intuitive user flows, with stakeholder feedback streamlined through its collaborative features.

Implementation

Built with Framer, the site leveraged Figma integration for pixel-perfect design translation. Framer’s animation tools added subtle micro-interactions, while responsive design ensured consistency across devices. Optimized assets maintained fast load times.

Results and Conclusion

The pedrada.pt website captures Cinema Pedrada’s bold identity with its brutalist design and dynamic tag cloud. Built with Figma and Framer, it delivers an intuitive, impactful experience, earning positive feedback for its striking visuals and usability, aligning with the brand’s mission to break barriers in film and media.
